Ohio connection: Resident

Kathy Fagan, Ph.D., is the author of the National Poetry Series selection The Raft (1985), the Vassar Miller Prize winner Moving & St. Rage (1999), and The Charm (2002). Her work has appeared in The Paris Review, The Kenyon Review, Slate, Field, Ploughshares, and The Missouri Review, among other literary magazines, and is anthologized in Under 35 (1989); Extraordinary Tide: New Poetry by American Women (2001); American Diaspora (2001); The Breath of Parted Lips: Poems from the Robert Frost Place (2001); and Poet’s Choice (2006), edited by Edward Hirsch. Fagan is the recipient of fellowships from the Ingram Merrill Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Ohio Arts Council. Formerly the Director of Creative Writing at The Ohio State University, she is currently Professor of English and co-editor of The Journal.

Dr. Fagan has been the recipient of the Paumanok Poetry Award, the Pushcart Prize for Poetry, the Vassar Miller Prize for Poetry, and grants or fellowships from the Ohio Arts Council, the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, Bread Loaf, and the Ingram Merrill Foundation.
