Drum Majors for Change
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy is firmly rooted in the call for change. Each generation echoes that drum beat for change and composes its own dreams for a better future. Together with the Delta Alpha Lambda Chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Dr. King’s fraternity, Cleveland Public Library will honor Dr. King’s legacy and observe the occasion of President Obama’s inauguration to a second term in the White House. All are welcome to join us for a viewing of the Presidential inauguration before the program. Seating for the inauguration broadcast opens at 11:30 a.m. with the full program beginning at 1:00 p.m. A community reception follows the event. “I’d like somebody to mention that day that Martin Luther King, Jr. tried to give his life to serving others…. If you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice. Say that I was a drum major for peace. I was a drum major for righteousness. And all of the other shallow things will not matter. “
