The Cleveland Public Library continues our tradition of offering African American History Month programs throughout the Main Library and its branches to commemorate the rich history that helped shape this country.
Cleveland Public Library welcomes Pulitzer Prize-winning author and political analyst, Eugene Robinson. Frequently seen on MSNBC. Mr. Robinson is also associate editor and columnist for The Washington Post. His latest book, Disintegration: The Splintering of Black America, was published in 2010.

Reverend Jawanza Karriem Colvin of Olivet Institutional Baptist Church a powerful, energetic, and visionary theologian will speak on the role of faith and education in the struggle for freedom. A guest soloist from the Olivet Institutional Baptist Church Choir will also perform.
Also featured will be a presentation by W. Daniel Bickerstaff II, designer of the African American Cultural Garden and Andrew Jackson, chairman of the Garden’s Task Force.

Join Cleveland’s own Edward “Phatty” Banks in creating an original musical composition about African America history. Participants will receive an introduction to digital music composition, and learn the art of writing poetic lyrics.
