Writers & Readers Series

Cleveland Public Library again hosted its signature, highly acclaimed Writers & Readers Series at the Main Library, bringing to Cleveland a number of award-winning authors. The 2011-2012 Writers & Readers Series featured free presentations by six noteworthy authors, including:

  • Anchee Min, a Chinese-American painter, photographer, musician and author of historical fiction
  • Jimmy Santiago Baca, an award-winning poet and author
  • Ruth Reichl, well-known author and food critic for The New York Times and previous editor-in-chief for Gourmet magazine
  • Audrey Niffenegger, a visual artist and writer best known for her book The Time Traveler’s Wife
  • Eugene Robinson, a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer and reporter focused primarily on political commentary
  • Rick Moody, an award-winning novelist described by The Wall Street Journal as “one of the most prodigiously talented writers in America”

Given the diversity of this year’s authors, attendees covered a wide range of demographics and came from around the state, as well as from neighboring states. In some cases, as many as 400 people came to hear the wit and wisdom of these highly acclaimed authors and speakers.
