67. Chessmen. Wire sculpture: brass vs. copper. King 3-7/8" H. Copper board: flame-dyed.

Chessmen in standing human forms with rearing horses and towers suggest medieval army in modern abstract design. Brass side differs from copper side. Copper side has King with a sword wearing short suit of armor and crown; Queen with a coronet wearing inverted cone-shaped, long mail armor skirt; Bishop is a running soldier with sword and round hat. Knight is a rearing horse, Rook is a round tower with four gates and gallery, topped by an onion dome.
