51. Chessmen. Ivory vs. ebony. King 2-1/4" H. Leather board.

King with a cross, Queen with a crown, Bishop with a mitre, Knight is a horse's head, and Rook is a round-shaped castle. All pieces, with the exception of Knight, on tall, circular pedestals. Pawns are simple round-shaped pieces with spherical heads.

Purchased by donor in an antique shop in England, 1962.
