124. Crusaders. Ceramic, hard-paste, gilt: glazed white vs. brown. King 5-3/4" H. Mark: "Alberta's molds, no.197 (?)" molded into bases of chessmen. Ceramic "Duncan" chess and checkerboard cast in four separate parts; old ivory and mahogany-brown glaze, squares outlined in gold, with baroque gilt floral decorative border.

Chessmen cast in a mold in one piece fired at cone 04, 06, and 017 for thirteen hours in a three-step process, same as board. Standing human figures on circular bases. Crusaders accented with gold crosses on the breastplate of King, orb held by Queen, and shields of Pawns. White and brown half-sets are same, differing only in color.
