119. Chessmen, Influenced by the Spanish "Pulpit" Style. Bone, vividly painted half-busts and unpainted bone and black-painted bone disc bases: red vs. green. King 5-1/4" H.

Carved in slightly bulbous shapes with pierced and serrated bases surmounted by hand-painted heads and half-busts. King and Queen have crowned heads on double-barreled stem, Bishop has long hair and no mitre. Knight is a horse's head, Rook has a turreted top with a finial. Pawns are half-busts of men wearing red or green colors and blond or black hair. Green side has black-painted bone disc bases.
